Sam was too afraid to go down the slide. But Otis was brave.

Otis was a little afraid at first but then he grew to love them. His favorite firework was the chicken one. Sam, on the other hand was terrified and made me go back to Buttermaker's with him to hide.

After the Parade Came the Rain

Phoebe helped Sam get an umbrella ready.

But he decided to stay on the perch.

Because he was gearing up to go running around in the rain without an umbrella. Cover those ears Sammy!

Otis displayed a new way to hold an umbrella.

The Fourth of July Parade

The best 4th of July parade in the country is in Memphis. It was my first time back in four years.

I love the patriotic flowers.

Sam cheered on the parade. I'm glad he like it. Earlier he heckled the singing of the National Anthem.

And then the treats began. First up - watermelon.

And then it was time for the boys' first ever Sno Cones.

Sam admired his Memphis Fire Department sticker while sitting in a fire engine. Otis refused to go in.

Because he was too busy eating hot dogs!

I think Sam was trying to get high on the hot dog bun.

Already high.
