Presidents' Day Weekend

Saturday

Yu, Mooney, and Jim came over to hang out.

Yu and Sam played with the train tracks. Sam was okay with sharing.

Mooney was amused by the boys' yogurt eating. He took some great shots.

Later in the evening, Otis had an idea.

Tunnel!

Sunday
Play time at the Y. Otis kept calling it the A because he likes repeating the last thing he hears.

Otis immediately had fun. Sam was shy. The day before, upon seeing Chris and Yu after waking up from his nap, he buried his head in my shoulder and said, "I'm shy."

Surprisingly, neither one noticed the kid dressed in a Buzz Lightyear shirt.

Sam began to loosen up.

Oh, what's over here?

Training for the toddler marathon.

Later in the evening, Jim, Pam, Nora, and Miles watched the boys for a couple of hours so we could go out to dinner.

Relaxing to Yo Gabba Gabba!

A Double Date

The Cast
Sam, Amelia, Otis

First off: Time to do some catching up.

Second: Introducing Amelia to the new toys.

Third: The big kids introduced the new arrival Viva to Yo Gabba Gabba! but they didn't introduce her to good posture.

Fourth: A little private time in the corner for Amelia and Sam.

Viva wondered where the lovebirds had gone.

After some quality time with Amelia, Sam wanted to impress her with his knowledge of how the work table works.

Otis thought he might be able to impress Viva with his knowledge of how to say "Choo Choo" while staring into Thomas the Tank Engine's eyes.

Failing to impress Viva with his train knowledge, Otis made some funny faces. That didn't work too well either.

Amelia worked on the top of the work bench while Sam continued to study what was underneath. Otis continued to entertain himself on the couch.

Viva enjoyed watching Otis get tickled and decided she needed to do something to impress him.

Problem solved.

Sam loved Viva's jacket and later asked Otis if he would be interested in swapping dates for the next double date.

Bye Viva!

Don't go Viva!

The double date turned into a threesome once again with an incredible amount of singing, dancing, and running around to The Shins song from Yo Gabba Gabba! But you'll have to wait for the February movie to see it.

This Band Will Change Your Life

I'm not sure what the boys were watching here but it was probably Yo Gabba Gabba!

And it was probably their new favorite song by The Shins. They are completely obsessed. Just hearing the song these days send them into giggling fits and bouts of jumping and running around the apartment. When the song ends, they cry out "More Shins! More Shins!"

Sam likes singing to the "La la la" part near the end. Otis knows a lot of the words and especially likes singing the part "Sometimes you win" over and over.

Enjoy!

Henry's 4th Birthday Party

The shindig was held at Bounce U in Brooklyn. We talked about it for a few days to get the boys ready. Otis kept practicing how to say "Happy Birthday Henry." But when the moment of truth came, Otis went silent.

Otis was also too afraid to "jumpity jumpity" as well. Sam was darn brave though.

Climbing.

Sliding

Jumping

Lounging

We tried to get Otis in on the action but he was too afraid.

A happy Sam, a crying Otis.

A jumping Sam, a clingy Otis.

Finally, Otis loosened up. He liked bouncing to the loud music.

Btw, his wristband says that he can drink.

Either that or it means he can eat a lot of pizza.

Sam was impressed by Otis's pizza eating prowess.

After Sam gravitated to the Galaga, I put in some change and we played a game together. We were awesome.

After the party, Otis kept saying "Happy Birthday Henry." But never to Henry's face. So I recorded him and sent it to Dave to play for Henry.

Happy Birthday Henry

A Visit to the Transit Museum

I can't believe we have waited so long to take the boys to the Transit Museum for the first time.

They were immediately in love.

They loved exploring the different old subway cars. Otis was ready to move onto the next one.

Who's ready to get off at Court St?

Ringing the bell.

Bus!
